It’s hard to believe, but this year we’re celebrating 10 years of Sign-Up.to. It’s been quite a ride so far, and we’re nowhere near done yet!
Things have changed massively since we started. Back in 2003 I spent a lot of my time explaining the concept of Software-as-a-Service to people, and justifying why we couldn’t sell them Sign-Up.to on a CD. Now SaaS is a given for most software.
In 2003 the height of mobile email technology was plain-text emails on a Blackberry, and they were only for corporate users. It wasn’t until four years after we launched that the iPhone came out – now smartphones are accounting for 50% of email opens.
It doesn’t seem long ago that we celebrated our first million-email day, now we can send more than that in an hour and hardly notice. We’ve continued to innovate, most recently with our shiny new API that’s now enabling some really exciting projects.
We’ve grown to a team of over 30 great people in offices on two continents and work with an amazing group of clients. We’ve grown steadily by reinvesting our profits and never taken outside funding, so we can focus on doing what’s right for our customers, not what helps us make the next quarter’s numbers.
Most importantly, after 10 years we’re still convinced that Permission Marketing is an awesome tool for growing businesses, and we still love what we do.
I’d like to personally thank all the wonderful people who’ve helped us on our journey so far – including the many Sign-Up’ers past and present that have helped us deliver on our vision, and the thousands of fantastic clients we’ve worked with.
If you’d like a little bit of a look into our past I’ve put together a brief overview (for our recent staff birthday party) of progression by way of screenshots of our website home page over the years.
