How Pizza Express created #wimbledonglory

Unless you’ve been hibernating over the last week or so, you’ll be very aware of the fantastic Wimbledon tournament that is creating a buzz amongst us.

What are brands doing to celebrate this quintessentially British event? Well, I received this rather topical email yesterday from Pizza Express and smiled/drooled as the strawberries and cream lit up my screen. The subject line of ‘Brand new offer – 25% off food. Plus join in for #wimbledonglory‘ is very topical with a clear call to action.

Screen Shot 2014-06-30 at 17.13.35 The imagery uses a brilliant fusion: the famous knickerbocker glory and Wimbledon’s famous strawberry and cream associations. The colour scheme is very fresh and summer-esque whilst having a ‘British’ feel. The top header matches the subject line, so subscriber expectations are met, and the copy is to the point.
