How Café Rouge made light of the tube strike in their latest email campaign

If you’ve been watching the news this morning, or have been caught up in the commuter chaos yourself, you’ll be very aware of the 48-hour tube strike that’s currently taking place in London. Not due to end until the evening of Thursday 6th February, commuters are facing a miserable journey to work today and tomorrow.

So what have Café Rouge got to do with it? Well, I received this rather topical email from them yesterday and couldn’t help but smile (yes, email marketing geek over here). The subject line of ‘Tube nightmare? Rouge has the answer…’ is both light-hearted and to the point, and given that it’s a subject that’s all over the news, it really caught my eye. The fact that they mentioned the tube in their subject line instantly drew me to open it, through sheer curiosity.

I also think the colour scheme they’ve chosen is great; it’s both eye-catching and rather British. The top header matches the subject line, so subscriber expectations are met, and the copy is short and to the point with a clear call to action.
