Another week has flown by here at Whether you love it or hate it, it’s hard to be unaware of it – the much anticipated Game of Thrones Series 6 launched in the USA and UK this week and the online community has gone into overdrive. Even the Queen’s gone digital.

Influential news magazine Time this week reported news from HBO that Series 6 Episode 1 (‘The Red Woman’) attracted 10.7 million viewers, breaking the previous 10.3 million record from the Series 5 finale last year. Interestingly, helped by HBO’s promotional offer, the number of people watching live decreased compared to those opting for online streaming.

Artificial intelligence predicts…

With estimates of Game of Thrones fatalities to date at well over 5,000, the Guardian reports that students at the Technical University of Munich have developed an artificial intelligence algorithm to predict the likelihood of death for the remaining characters. Men are apparently more vulnerable than women and, at 97%, top of the predictions to get bumped off is current throne sitter Tommen Baratheon.

Who rules the mobile lands?

Social Media Today report that mobile advertising and analytics platform AppsFlyer has created a Game of Thrones themed infographic documenting the power struggles of the major players in the digital mobile landscape. Meanwhile… it has come to one’s attention that The Private Secretary’s Office of the Royal Household is currently advertising for a ‘Head of Digital Engagement’. To take your seat on the Queen’s digital throne you’ll need experience of managing high profile websites, social media and other digital formats and be an expert in all matters regarding digital communication and marketing management. Based at Buckingham Palace the position pays £45-50k, but hurry, applications close on 2nd May.
