1. Apple reveal new iPhone 6 ad with Justin Timberlake
Unveiling its new phone models, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple has turned to Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon to illustrate the new ‘health’ functionality on each device as they compete against each other on distance and calories. 2. Canon engages with fashionistas at LFW
At London Fashion Week, Canon is encouraging visitors to leave their seats and try an Oculus Rift headset which lets them experience the lifestyles of models during the event. The stunt is aiming to increase engagement with consumers through social media and allow Canon to capitalise on its sponsorship of LFW.
3. Explore the Pyramids of Giza from your sofa
Google does it again! Thanks to Google Street View, users from anywhere in the world can wander around the most famous site in Egypt, the Pyramids of Giza. This marks the first time that Google has documented any part of Egypt so we were excited to discover that there is now less need to save for that Egyptian holiday!
4. Sales up at John Lewis despite Waitrose loss
John Lewis has revealed that their profits at the partnership are up 12% in half-year pre-tax profits, despite Waitrose profits being hit. This has been attributed to an increase in sales at both John Lewis’ department store and Waitrose. Despite this, Waitrose’s operating profit suffered due to an increase in its branches by 15 compared to the previous year and investment in its website and loyalty programme. 5. Bye-bye Nokia
Microsoft reveal that they are likely to drop the Nokia brand in favour of the Lumia branding going forward. Having purchased the Finnish company this year for £3.2bn, they are aiming to drop the Nokia brand by Christmas this year. It’s the end of an era for those among you who remember the classic 3210 models.
