Did you know? You can create a subscription form with multiple attached lists. It’s perfect for situations like event registrations where you want to give your subscribers alternative options to choose from. Here’s another handy step-by-step ‘how to do it’ guide.
First, from the Collect menu, select Forms in the drop down menu. This will take you to the main form building area. Next, select that you want to create a new form.
As always, the first step in building a form is to associate it with a list. This is the list that subscribers will be automatically added to when they complete and submit the form.
I’ve set this example up so I have a folder called ‘My events’, inside which there are 4 lists – a mater list (All events) and a separate list for each of the event options. We’ll come back to these in a moment.
Select the list ‘All events’ to be the master list which is associated with this form. This will be added to the form connections and every time the form is submitted the new contact details will be added as default to this list.
Next, on the left hand side select the option to Manage List Connections. This is where you can add additional lists to your form.
To begin with you’ll just see the primary list which is associated with the form – now it’s time to add another.
Select the next list that you want to be added – here its the list which will capture subscriptions to the event on the 1st of February.
You’ll see that an additional tick-box option has now been added to the form. You can edit the text that appears next to it if you wish.
Then all you have to do is repeat the above steps for each of the additional events/lists.
When you’re done your form will look like this. You can select and drag each option if you want to change their order of appearance. You might also want to add some additional instructions to the form to invite your audience to select one or more of the events they wish to subscribe to.
When the form is submitted the the details will be populated into the list(s) associated with whichever option(s) have been selected. All of the details will automatically also be added into the primary list. All that remains ios to save and publish your form – and then monitor your subscriptions as they come in. Done.
